Using the chat

No account is needed. Chat users never give an email address or a password.

When you enter, an anonymous session identifier is created and kept in your browser. We store your nickname and your chosen language.

Your text messages and voice messages are processed so the service can work: voice recordings are transcribed by an AI speech-processing service, and messages may be processed for translation and for safety moderation.

Chat messages, transcripts, translations and voice recordings are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Direct chats between two people are not end-to-end encrypted. Content may be processed or reviewed for safety, abuse prevention and administration.

Contacting HelloFellow

If you choose to write through the contact form, the name, email address and message you submit are stored separately from the chat, so we can reply to you. That is the only place HelloFellow keeps an email address.

What we never do

We do not sell your data, run ad networks, or use third-party advertising trackers. Product metrics are anonymous counts only — never message content.

Clearing your browser storage permanently detaches you from your session.
